Who are you thankful for?
Siarah, our 14 year-old Restro Druid virtuosos, plays the guitar, volleyball and has made grown men (looking at you Rorik) weep with glee at her healing and pvp abilities. The following a small tale of her journey into the competitive Arena world.
I leveled from 1 to 70, worked hard for the decent gear I have today, and tried to put time into helping other guildies do the same. I’ve done my very best to learn my class by reading up on it, creating macros, etc.
Now, I find myself stumped.
I’ve done it all… Battlegrounds, Raids, Farming, Daily’s and I am sick of it. I’m tired of the repetitive day-after-day routine; I need something new. So, the first thing that comes into my head is, “I need to quit WoW, maybe play another online game. Just a short break to get me back in the mood.” But of course quitting WoW isn’t actually going to happen, seeing as, well… I am an addict. So my next thought was, “How many times have I gotten a Whisper for a 2v2?” (I am a resto Druid after all). I mean, I’ve tried the arena thing… nothing too much, just a couple games a week, just for the points. But what if I give it a serious shot… and that’s where I met my new best friend.
Hmmm he’s beautiful, funny and helpful. He is everything you could want in a friend. Green and honest, and greets me with a “Time is money, friend” whenever I need it. His name is “Backstab” Bindo Gearbomb, and to most of you ‘Arena Battle Master’ of Shattrath. That’s where we started, on our journey towards finding me a 2v2 arena partner.
Being someone who never had a great interest in the arena aspect of WoW, I didn’t really know my class in a PvP-kind-of-way. So, the first thing I did was read up about arena, and the things resto druids need to do. That’s when I realized, there are so many expectations being resto. Not only am I a healer, I am expected to crowd control, as well as kite around pillars and do everything I can to stay alive- no pressure.
Now for a partner!
Krystofar (*cough cough* noob), is a very well geared hunter and I read hunter-druid combos are very successful. Thought, we should be great. Sadly, not the case.
We didn’t do so well. We started off with quite a few wins, as we worked our way up to 1600, and it was downhill from there. We lost, and we lost and we lost until about 1450 where I became extremely frustrated and I moved on to another partner. I then tried a couple different hunters and mages as well. Nothing was working.
Things were ending pretty badly, as I was going through 30 minute mana fights… and losing. Fight after fight I would read about the things I am doing wrong and the things I needed to change, and again I had no idea what I could do, the only thing that came to mind was practice. That’s when my buddy “Backstab” hooked me up with a few skirmishes, where I was doing better, learning my class, and seeing which classes I worked with best. And finally, just last week I was lucky enough to find that arena partner that works! Nya.
Nya is a Warlock, well geared and strategically inclined. He knows what to do and when to do it, not only for his own warlock self, but for me, and for my abilities as well. We have done quite a few matches as our rating is slowly creeping towards 1650. (I like to win). While everyday I learn more and more from Nya and his skills, I can’t help but remember the days with “Backstab” and how much I have learned since then.
So, the moral of the story is, go visit “Backstab” the arena battle master and do some skirmishes. Practice with as many classes as you possibly can and find the one that’s right for you. Maybe you’ll find a new best friend.

I am a homebody and Bleeding Hollow is home. Unless you count those two months I ran away and had a ummm….”hunter” born on the Kul’ Tiras server, I have always remained a faithful member of BH. The thing is, when you start hanging out in the BA Chat long enough, you feel a natural pull to visit friends. Fimlys told me last week he create a new babe on Bleeding and how about me creating one on his server, Draenor. Then I remembered my poor abandoned love child and decided to transfer her over. Off my 43 hunter went, with her crappy helm from SM and other delicate *cough* matters :

Would link her armory page, but thankfully, since this confession, Ailene is in the process of a makeover…now to need to find a scope….
All I can say in her defense is that she was born when I was very young and didn’t know any better…it isn’t her fault!
Anyho…transferred her over got invited into Fim’s guild and all was well. That is, until I decided to look up Bre for something. Now, I am completely aware I am not the only Bre in WoW. There are, as you can see below 54 of us. BUT! OF ALL THE SERVERS LOOK WHO COMES UP FIRST!!!!!!
That’s right…Breana…of Draenor. Not, I repeat NOT Breana of Bleeding Hollow. Why does it freak me out so much? Let me give you a few reasons.
1- She is a dwarf chick, which is rare enough these days.
2- She is a priest (my second class)
3- She is living on my second server
4- There are at least two members of her guild that have either the same names of some of AUO’s members or are VERY similar
